The Haflinger Australia Association is proud to represent one of the world's most beloved horse breeds.
Originating in the Tyrolean Alps of Austria and Northern Italy, Haflingers were bred to be strong, surefooted and adaptable — a legacy they continue to uphold in modern times.
Today, the Haflinger stands out for its distinctive golden colouring, flowing white mane, gentle temperament and incredible versatility.
Whether in the show ring, doing dressage, on the trail, undertaking western disciplines, pleasure riding under saddle or in harness, Haflingers excel across a wide variety of disciplines. Their calm nature and people-oriented personalities make them ideal for riders of all ages and abilities.

The Haflinger Australia Association is proud to maintain strong international connections with the global Haflinger community. We are affiliated with the Haflinger Horse Breeding Association Tyrol (Tiroler Haflinger Zuchterband), the original custodians of the Haflinger breed in its homeland Austria. We are also a recognised affiliate of the World Haflinger Breeding and Sports Federation, the international organisation dedicated to preserving, promoting, and advancing the Haflinger breed worldwide. These affiliations ensure that our breeding standards, registration processes, and commitment to the breed remain aligned with internationally recognised best practices, supporting the continued development and integrity of the Haflinger in Australia.
